Ministry Partners

Friedens Church partners with these organizations to provide global, national, and community ministry.

The United Church of Christ (UCC) is comprised of over 6000 congregations in the United States. It was formed in 1957 from churches of the Evangelical and Reformed Church, and the Congregational Christian Churches. The UCC offers: Unity - for Christians of diverse traditions seeking one church on earth; Action - a heritage of working for Christ's kingdom; Freedom - for congregational and individual decisions under Christ.
The South Central Conference of the United Church of Christ is a partnership of churches, associations and leaders of the United Church of Christ throughout Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. From urban to rural, large to tiny, multicultural to ethnic, the SCCUCC is a tapestry of God's beautiful diversity.
Slumber Falls Camp is an outdoor ministry of the South Central Conference of the United Church of Christ. The Woelke Lodge facility can accommodate 70, the Kelsey Lodge facility can sleep 40 people while the Bizer Retreat Center can accommodate 32 people. There are three outdoor worship areas. Cedar trees dominate the property, with cypress trees found along the river. An Indian mound and numerous fossils abound near the area known as Fossil Flats. While the camp is best known for its Christian summer camp for children ages 6-18, the facility is used by a wide variety of groups from all over Texas during most weekends of the year. Building Freedom for the Homebound Have you ever changed a person’s life in a single day? The Texas Ramp Project does it hundreds of times a year! We build wheelchair ramps for disabled or elderly people who can’t afford to buy one. In a few hours on a Saturday morning, we give these folks the freedom to leave their home again—the home where they want to remain but whose steps have imprisoned them. Since incorporating in 2006, the Texas Ramp Project has built more than 6,001 safe, durable ramps across the state.

EdenHill Communities is the only CCRC in the New Braunfels area, providing a full range of services including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, and Memory Care. It all began in 1906 when Mr. and Mrs. Martin Schmidt, members of the Friedens Church in Geronimo, Texas, made a gift of $10,000 (valued today at $350,000) to the Texas District of the Evangelical Church (now the South Texas Association of the United Church of Christ) to build a home for the aged.

Guadalupe Valley Christian Counseling Center (GVCCC) is a non-profit Christian agency supported by area churches. While our staff members are committed Christians with their own faith statements and understandings, their purpose is not to preach to clients. They are clinically trained and experienced professionals who utilize the tools of the psychotherapeutic fields to help clients achieve optimal mental, emotional and spiritual health. Tools of the faith such as confession and forgiveness, prayer, and Biblical meditation can be used when the client feels comfortable with them and can be benefited therapeutically
Family Promise is a nonprofit organization committed to helping low-income families achieve lasting independence. The problem of poverty is complex. It won't yield to a simple solution or a quick fix. It requires an integrated approach that begins with meeting immediate needs but reaches much further to help people achieve independence and to alleviate the root causes of poverty. Our strategy is to focus our efforts on five programs that work together in a holistic, integrated approach. Because the five programs support one another, each of them is far more effective than it could be alone.

Texas Impact was founded on the central religious conviction that religious communities are called to minister to the whole person—to respond with compassion to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of all people. The Texas religious leaders who established Texas Impact in 1973 believed that such a ministry cannot be performed adequately without a concern for basic social problems at the state government level.
